Workshops at Saviours' Day in Chicago, IL

Peace,

Dear Family,

From Girl II Goddess (FG2G) was encouraged to submit workshop proposals for this year's Saviours' Day Convention. I did with faith. The proposals were Bag Lady: Let Go of Some of that Stuff, Moma, I'm Sorry and Sisterhood vs. Clique. The result: Approval. We are going to Chi-Town ya'll. I cried OMG at least 300 times. I cried. I laughed. I stared. All praise is due to Allah.

What this means is that we have a chance to present to the world, activities and solutions to the problems facing young girls. Participants from all over the world will be present. London, France, Ghana, Australia, America, Mexico, Canada. This is huge and we are blessed to be apart of it.

The challenge ahead. Raising funds from supporters to send us there. We acted on faith and now that faith must be fulfilled. We need your support. We need your prayers and we want you to pass the word that From Girl to Goddess is on the map.

More to come. Thank you.

Very Exciting Week

Peace,

Family,

This has been a very exciting week.

First, President Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. Many of the student stayed home and watched with their family so went to school and watched with schoolmates.

Second, there was a change at Parker Elementary School. The change, separate classes for boys and girls. Result, fear and confusion and dissatisfaction. Many of the girls felt it was unfair for some girls to stay in the classroom with boys. They called them the "good" girls. Others felt that it was segregation. Some said it will cause or lesbianism. But a few agreed with the change.

There was a lot of mixed feelings and certainly a lot of controversy. The children want to be heard. Of course the whole purpose was stop the girls from being boy crazy and prevent boys from being a distraction to their education.

We believe it's a great idea. The student don't. Some parents do, others don't. Teachers unknown. The news of this change is hotter than a scandal in city hall. Of course we're talking about teenagers.

As the weeks go by our self improvement courses are sure to make an impact on this situation.

Stay tuned.

your sister,

Role Playing

Peace,

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 we used the Language of Goddesses to role play. Mareshah created four situations for the girls to solve. This objective was to let them discover how to treat each other and how to assert themselves. It was a success! The girls really responded well to creating their own skits.

New Year Resolutions

Never start something you can't finish, is the best way to keep New Year's Resolutions. When you make a resolution, you're actually declaring or making a decree or promise to change. You are the judge, king or authority in the matter. If the change doesn't benefit you, it won't benefit others. Do not be pressured to change for others sake, it's not good enough. You must love yourself first, then others to be successful.

I love you, until next time.

Stuff & Receiving Box

Peace,

We had a great day at Parker Elementary on Friday (12th). I met a few of the teachers and they said the children loved the program and encouraged us to keep up the good work.

Last week, we talked about the Stuff & Receiving Box. Basically the girls used this time to release anything conflicting with their spirit. We call it "Stuff". Once they wrote it down, they had to release it to the universe. It cannot be discussed and talked about in detail again.

The next step was to pull an Goddess Attribute or "Receiving" from the receiving box. Each student was asked to read the attribute aloud and claim it. Some may call this journal writing, but it's a little more to it. The students are actually taught the science of releasing "stuff" and the science of receiving and accepting blessings.

It was a hit!

More next week, God willing.

White doll vs. Black doll Experiment

August 6, 2008

Dear Family,

Perhaps by now you've seen videos of black children being asked to pick between a white doll and a black doll. The most famous video of recent note was conducted by Kiri Davis.

Why is it important to teach the knowledge of self? See for yourself and tell a friend.

4. She Wants to be White (Mexican Version)

The question I have is why did Kiri Davis choose or allow those questions to be asked? What would have been the girls responses if the questions had been posed differently. Humm!!!!
